Presented by Alison Hicks
Learn about the range of South Australian school records available, from early colonial days to the present, and the wealth of information they can provide for family and local history research.
Alison worked as a history teacher, then teacher librarian, in city and country schools at both primary and secondary levels. As part of her volunteering at Genealogy SA she is digitising and transcribing school admission registers. After creating a database of all past South Australian government schools, she is locating the sites of as many of these schools as possible. Nearly 1300 sites have now been photographed and the GPS recorded, with many more to find.
